SELF"

“SELF” is a visual concept film to accompany the fourth collection from designer, DaShaun Hightower. Inspired by the shift of African-American culture back to nature, “SELF” explores visual themes that juxtapose The Natural and The Machined. Further informed by funk and reggae musicians who embodied this transition, this film creates tableaus that incorporate iconography from Jamaica, as well as the American South. This piece looks to call attention to the familiar experience of creating something new from the old.
