Tel Aviv International Student Film Festival (TAU Film Fest) is delighted to team up with Los Angeles Fashion Film Festival (LAFFF) for the TAU Fashion Film Day Screening on June 12, 2018 at the Tel Aviv Cinematheque.

This is the first time the fashion genre is included in the TAU Film Fest, which offers a unique crossover of exposure for both festivals. This special collaboration offers a sneak peek at the upcoming LAFFF debut by featuring six select LAFFF nomination films. By joining forces, we hope to boost international visibility of fashion films as emerging artistic and cultural narratives in our digital era.

Tel Aviv International Student Film Festival (June 10-16, 2018)

One of the largest and most prominent student film festivals in the world, the TAU Film Fest was established in 1986 by film students from the Tel Aviv University (TAU) and continues to be run and produced by university students. The week-long annual festival celebrates young and daring cinema with an exciting program featuring hundreds of films, premiere screenings, fascinating cinematic events, workshops, conferences and professional masterclasses by some of the world’s leading figures in the film industry.

Since inception, the festival has hosted prominent filmmakers such as David Gordon Green, Paolo Sorrentino, the Dardenne brothers, Catherine Breillat, Leo Carax, Thomas Vinterberg, Sarah Polley, and Michel Hazanavicius.

The LA Fashion Film Fest is a multilayered cultural initiative. While its primary aim is to showcase progressive ideas in the form of fashion films to honour filmmakers, it takes the conversation further. The festival incites meaningful exchanges via an immersive programme of interactive tech displays, animated creative installations, thought-provoking panel discussions, and engaging masterclasses.

With the dynamic currents of Silicon Valley’s tech scene powering a whole new generation of filmmakers, fashion and film producers and consumers, LAFFF stands out by bridging the gap between brands and their discerning audiences. The connected consumer demands immersive experiences, and we’re here to deliver.

Shining the International Spotlight on Fashion Films

The growing prominence of lifestyle videos, fashion film festivals, and inspiring video platforms such as NOWNESS underscores the significance of video as the dominant content medium, with fashion as an influential, cultural and inclusive element. Fashion connects and brings us together, transcending social backgrounds, race, religion and culture. The TAU Film Fest recognises the empowering role played by fashion films and celebrates it with the festival’s Fashion Film Day Screening on June 12, 2018 at the Tel Aviv Cinematheque.

In collaboration with LAFFF, the TAU Film Fest will feature six select LAFFF nomination films in its screening line-up. This will offer a special sneak peek at the upcoming LAFFF debut in October, providing a unique crossover of exposure for both festivals. By joining forces, we hope to boost international visibility of fashion films as emerging artistic and cultural narratives in our digital era, inline with a mutual dedication to inclusivity.

This is also the first of a series of international collaborations for LAFFF, in its mission to showcase its diverse repertoire of fashion films to global audiences of connected consumers.

The six LAFFF nomination films are as follows:
