Gsus Lopez (Zamora, Spain, 1986). a writer-director based between London (UK) and Spain, with a passion for celebratory, uplifting, and joyous LGBTQ+ and working-class stories.
Since graduating with his BA in Media from the University of the Arts London in 2014, he has been selected as a member of the BFI Network x BAFTA Crew (2018-22), and Berlinale Talents (2015).
Gsus has directed a few award-winning short films, fashion films and music videos, with his crowd-funded short OUT screening at over 50 film festivals worldwide, then premiering online on FOTOGRAMAS (2019) and being included in the FILMIN catalogue.
Gsus is currently in preproduction for a new short film titled NAILS. Amongst other projects, he's developing a new feature film titled THE DAM in the ongoing Dissident House lab. He's recently finished writing the script for his debut feature film HISTORIA DE MADRUGADA (Story at Dawn), a queer drama set in Madrid. This project was selected for the 5th Pitchbox Madrid by Filmmarket Hub and highlighted in an article in Variety published during the 71st Cannes Film Festival in 2018. In 2019, he got a grant to participate in a 5-week long Advanced Script Development Workshop at the EICTV in Cuba.
