Homecoming

Homecoming is a poignant visual narrative that blends the genres of documentary, fiction, and dance to explore the emotional journey of returning home after an extended absence. It intricately navigates the complex tapestry of feelings—guilt, resentment, shame, and gratitude—that inundate us upon reconnecting with our roots, prompting a reflective exploration of our childhood selves and the transformative forces shaping our present identities.

Sam Mandich

Sam is originally from Long Beach, California, but has lived and worked in New York for seven years prior to moving to Paris, France, and then Los Angeles, CA where she is currently based. She has a background working in the fashion industry for brands and editorial publications such as Louis Vuitton, Marie Claire, and The RealReal in the Styling, Photo, and Creative Production departments. The elements of fashion in Sam’s work comes from a place of offering people a sense of character, identity, inclusion, and expression. Dance is Sam’s first passion, and has served as inspiration in most of her early films and photographs. Through the intimacy of dance, Sam attempts to challenge the perspective of the female gaze, create an emotional connection with her audience, and discover innovative ways to storytell in narrative film.
