Fate

FATE is a Fashion Film with a gender viewpoint that shows a strong woman throwing the cards and modifying her circumstances to finally face the consequences. The film is a metaphor of women’s history, who for centuries have had to abide by the destiny society had assigned to them and are now able to create their own.

Director Statement

The film takes place in a bar, space historically habited by men to precisely demystify the marginal place occupied by the esoteric, very persecuted throughout history for being, among other things, a meeting place between women.

The short is full of details to reinforce this thesis such as the fact that she ignores the waiter's advice (which represents the card of the Magician in the tarot) and assumes what can happen by turning the cards, playing it over and over again. She mimics three cards and in each of them, reinterprets the meaning, facing the stereotypes of the female role and beauty canon.

The outdoor spaces reconnect women with nature, and in all outfits, the base is the swimsuit, to reinforce the idea that despite her decisions, she is prepared for what her destiny is prepared for her, even if it's decreed, or built by her. With a cinematic aesthetic and an artistic commitment, the costumes of 5 Mexican brands will be in charge of guiding us through this story.
