Many of us have declared our social media addictions of a waste of time, even as we endlessly scroll, retweet and like. But, as director Matthew Frost explores in his new short Boomerang, it’s not such a easy distraction to give up. A satirical look at social media addiction and the power of influencers, Boomerang stars Tully’s Mackenzie Davis as Jen, a woman who find that quitting social media isn’t as easy as it seems.
Matthew Frost began his career directing music videos for bands such as M83 and co-writing “Wassup Rockers” with Larry Clark. His recent satirical shorts have hit a viral chord with audiences for their wit and commentary about todays self obsessed fashionista, social media and celebrity culture. This has offered Matthew the opportunity to work with some of the most established talents today from Kate Winslet, Jessica Chastain, Cate Blanchett, Lizzy Caplan or Kirsten Dunst. His latest effort “Boomerang” stars exiting up and comer Mackenzie Davis.
Matthew has been having fun bringing his unique tone and vision to the commercial and photography world collaborating recently with Givenchy and Amanda Seyfried as well as on the latest Nike Woman “Better for It” global launch.
