Behind every successful story, there is pain, disappointment, tears and blood. Behind every fashion piece, there are broken dreams, years of work and often ugly reality. For Viandka it is hard not to break under unfortunate circumstances of life.

Director Statement

Beautiful Ugly is emotionally cinematic experience. The film is dedicated to all of the hardworking women behind fashion industry.

Mykhailo Dolgin

I was born and raised in a small town of Zhytomyr, Ukraine. My childhood was filled with love, adventures, literature and strict education. What made me different from others, is the amount of attention I was getting from my parents. I was taught to care, listen, help and understand. I believe those are the key elements to a marvelous storytelling. My life started to shape its own story when I met my wife at the age of 16.

Chances are not given, they are taken. I chose to become a man and learn to take responsibility for my actions. One way ticket to America, leaving everything that matters behind. While living in America I have learned that patience and hard work are always rewarded. I graduated with Masters degree in marketing but life had always had its own plan for me. Finding my passion was my most profound spiritual achievement. I find peace when I write and make films.

There is a unique language called cinema. As I share two careers, through cinema I see the world differently. The gift of love has brought me to a new chapter of my life and influenced my vision shaping my directing skills.

Through cinema I want to touch hearts, change lives and make this world a better place for our children. LJIFFF has been my goal for a the past year. I am thankful to life to be able to share a piece of me with all of you.

justin raymond merino founded kulturspace on a strong philosophy of collaboration and a belief that enriching our world with artistic, cultural and innovative visions can be done collectively, free from the limitations of a traditional brick-and-mortar operation.

over fifteen years of wide ranging international experience in management, design and cultural environments has gifted justin the skills needed to bring together the talents of creative professionals and designers.  most recently he cofounded the berlin student film festival (bsff) to spread the vision of inclusion and provide a platform to rising talents.

justin’s education is just as comprehensive. he completed business management studies at coc, a degree in design and visual communications from the university of pennsylvania, and in film & cinema from the university of london. he also studied project management at pinnacle p.d., exhibition design at node’s center for curatorial studies, and has participated in numerous educational programmes at the museum of modern art in new york. 

as a creative consultant justin has worked with mercedes-benz, deutsche telekom, adidas, dr. oetker, victorinox and others to harness and foster the force behind designers, strategists and creatives.  through a series of workshops and one and one support justin coaches berlin creative freelancers on how to navigate their career, develop a portfolio, build a client base as well as how to market and brand themselves. these days justin travels between berlin, tel aviv and his native los angeles developing kulturspace’s & bsff’s international presence, working with creative individuals and organisations to bring ideas to life.
